Terms of Use
Last updated 23 October 2026
The short version
- You must be 13 or older. Some features are for adults only.
- Be kind, be honest, and keep the feed about travel. Don’t harass, spam or impersonate anyone.
- You own what you post. You let us show it to the people you chose.
- HopWit is not an emergency service. Flight times, locations and AI guides can be wrong, so check anything important.
- HopWit is free while we test it. If we add paid plans, we’ll show the price before you pay.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and HopWit (“HopWit”, “we”, “us”), which is run from Victoria, Australia. They cover the HopWit app, hopwit.com and hopwit.me. When you use HopWit, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use HopWit.
These terms replace the terms of the earlier HopWit app run by MyLingoz Technologies Private Limited.
2. Who can use HopWit
- You must be at least 13, or older if the law where you live sets a higher age for using apps like this. If you’re under 18, check with a parent or guardian first.
- The travellers layer and trip connections with strangers are for people 18 and over. Don’t give a false date of birth to get around this.
- You can’t use HopWit if we’ve banned you before, or if the law stops you from using it.
3. Your account
- Sign in with a mobile number that belongs to you. We text a code to it. Your carrier may charge for the text.
- Keep your phone secure. If a phone is lost, sign it out in You › Account, help & sign out › Signed-in phones.
- Keep your profile honest: your real name, or one people know you by, and your real age.
- You’re responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us quickly if you think someone else is using it.
4. Sharing location and contacts
- Share your location only with people you trust. Only invite or track people who know and agree. Don’t use HopWit to follow anyone in secret.
- When you let HopWit check your contacts, you confirm that you’re allowed to use those numbers this way. See the Privacy Policy for what we keep.
- Location and battery readings depend on your phone and its signal, so they can be late or wrong.
5. What you post
- You keep ownership of your posts, photos, videos, messages, questions and answers (“your content”).
- You give us a worldwide, free, non-exclusive licence to store, copy, resize and show your content. We use this licence only to run HopWit and only for the people you chose, such as contacts, everyone, a chat or a circle. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account. Copies others have already saved, and backups kept for up to 14 days, are the only exceptions.
- Only post content you have the right to share. If other people appear in it, they should be happy for it to be shared.
- The travel feed is for travel: places, trips, food, tips and stories. HopWit AI checks each new post. Off-topic posts are shared with your contacts only, and posts that break section 6 are blocked. The check can get it wrong; if it does, tell us.
- Captions written with HopWit AI become your content once you post them, so read and edit them first. You’re responsible for what you post.
6. Things you must not do
- Harass, bully, threaten, stalk or intimidate anyone, or encourage violence or hatred.
- Post sexual content involving anyone under 18, or any sexual or nude content. Don’t post graphic violence or content that’s illegal where you or the viewer are.
- Impersonate someone, or mislead people about who you are or how old you are.
- Spam: bulk or automated messages, chain messages, or using requests to advertise.
- Share someone else’s private information (address, number, location, documents) without their permission.
- Infringe copyright, trademarks or other rights.
- Scrape HopWit, create accounts automatically, get around limits or blocks, or try to reach data that isn’t yours.
- Upload malware, attack our systems, or reverse-engineer the app, except where the law allows it.
- Use HopWit for anything illegal, or to sell things or services without our permission.
7. Safety, reports and moderation
- You can block or report anyone, as well as any post, comment, question or chat. Read our safety tips before meeting anyone in person. You meet other users at your own risk.
- We may hide or remove content, limit features, or suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put people at risk. Posts, questions and answers may be hidden automatically after several reports while we review them.
- If we think someone is in danger, or the law requires it, we may report illegal content or activity to the police or other authorities.
8. Trips, flights, guides and AI
- Trip details may come from you, from booking emails you forward, or from flight information services. They can be wrong or out of date. Always check with your airline.
- City guides and other content marked ✨ HopWit AI are written by AI, and can be inaccurate or out of date. Check opening hours, prices, safety advice and visa or entry rules with official sources.
- Weather and city names in welcome alerts come from outside services and are for general information only.
- Snap & share tells you what HopWit AI thinks is in a photo, and may translate text such as menus or signs. It can be wrong. Don’t rely on it for allergies, medicine, safety signs or legal notices.
- HopWit AI has a fair daily limit per person, so we can keep it free.
- Events come from Ticketmaster and similar services. Tickets are sold by them, not by us; check dates, prices and venues with them.
- Book a ride only opens other companies’ apps or websites, such as Uber, Lyft, DiDi, Ola, Grab, Bolt or 13cabs. HopWit doesn’t provide, arrange or pay for rides, and isn’t responsible for them.
- Links to other apps and sites, such as airlines, ride apps, maps, events or bookings, are run by those companies under their own terms.
9. Not an emergency service
HopWit can’t call emergency services, and you shouldn’t rely on it in an emergency. Location sharing, check-ins and place alerts may be late or fail. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (000 in Australia, 112 in India and Europe, 911 in the USA and Canada).
10. Price and paid features
HopWit is free while we test it. Later we may offer paid plans. On iPhone and Android, these are sold through Apple or Google and follow their terms. On the web, payments go through our payment provider. We’ll always show the price, currency and renewal terms before you pay. Free features you already use won’t become paid without notice.
11. The app and our rights
HopWit’s name, logo, app and website belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for its intended purpose while you follow these terms. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without paying you.
12. Changes and availability
HopWit is in early testing and will change. We may add, change or remove features, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. We’ll try to give notice of big changes. If we ever stop running HopWit, we’ll give you reasonable notice and a way to get a copy of your information.
13. Ending your account
You can stop using HopWit, and delete your account, at any time. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect others. When we do this, we’ll tell you why unless that would be unsafe or unlawful. Sections 5 (content you’ve shared with others), 11, 14 and 15 still apply after your account ends.
14. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, or under other consumer laws that can’t be excluded. If those laws apply, they come first.
Apart from those rights, HopWit is provided “as is”. As far as the law allows:
- We aren’t responsible for what other users say or do, on HopWit or when you meet them.
- We aren’t liable for missed flights, travel costs, or decisions made on the basis of trip details, locations, alerts or AI content.
- We aren’t liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profits or lost opportunities.
- Where our liability can be limited, it’s limited to supplying the service again or paying for it to be supplied again, or AUD 100, whichever is less. For a paid plan, the limit is what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
If you break these terms or the law and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim.
15. Disputes and law
If something goes wrong, please email us first at app@hopwit.com. Most problems can be fixed that way. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You and we can bring disputes in the courts of Victoria. If you live in another country, you also keep any right your local law gives you to go to your local courts.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is important, we’ll tell you in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect, unless the change is needed sooner for legal or safety reasons. If you keep using HopWit after that, the new terms apply. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account.
17. Other things
If part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. You can’t transfer your account. We may transfer these terms to a company that takes over HopWit, but your rights won’t be reduced. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about HopWit.
